CornVac: Corn Vac transfer
and cleaner How far can
corn be moved?
We have personally moved corn about 75-100 feet before using
solid PVC piping. We have heard of others moving corn in excess of
100 feet. The most important thing is to make sure that all of your
connections are smooth transitions. We recommend using a 6.5 hp vac
for these distances.
What kind of pvc piping should I use for long distances?
To transfer corn over 10-15 feet, we recommend using solid pvc
piping. We recommend using the Grey schedule 40 PVC pipe found in
the electrical section of the hardware store. This pipe has a "bell
or hub" on one end and a straight section on the other end (no
additional couplers are needed to join two pipes together). If
bends are necessary, be sure to use the matching grey bends, they
are long sweeping bends. The white pvc pipe bends are very short
and may cause blockages if used.
When laying out your run of pipe, be sure to have the bell/hub
end of the pipe pointing towards the corn source (away from the
cleaner). This provides a smoother transition from pipe to pipe.
Remember, every bend or joint you have is a potential source of
clogging.
It is also required to run the solid pvc pipe DIRECTLY to the
cleaner!! No flexible pipe should be used at the cleaner/mobile
unit. The ONLY place where flexible pvc pipe should be used is at
the corn storage source (the beginning of the run).
when running long distances, it is advisable to NOT glue all of
the joints together, there may be an occasion when something larger
gets lodged in the run and you will have to dismantle the piping to
remove the clog.
What type of warranty or guarantee are with your products?
We have a 90 day warranty on all of our products, however, we
will stand behind our products past the 90 days to repair any
manufacturing defects if they occur. We will do what it takes to
satisfy our customers. The materials we use on our products are
quality materials that should last a lifetime with proper use. With
any product, neglect, such as dropping the unit or other mishandling
is not a problem with manufacturing and will not be covered under
any warranty. We will service our products in the future if
problems do arise. Our Mobile Unit and cleaner were designed to be
serviced. If any parts get worn or damaged, they are all
interchangeable and can be replaced or serviced. The Mobile Unit
does have moving parts that over years of use, may require
replacement, however, our parts are made of durable materials that
we expect to last for many years. The Cleaner has no moving parts
and will last a lifetime with proper use.
Can I make my corn furnace hopper airtight and use your
cleaner with it?
We have not tried it before, but we have heard others say NO.
Many users have a 14 bushel hopper with their corn furnace and have
asked to make the hopper airtight and attach our cleaner on top.
The 14 bushel hopper itself is not made to hold a vacuum, and the
auger system on the bottom is a source of air leaks. If the bottom
auger is not sealed, the heat and smoke from the furnace burn pot
will be sucked up through the system and possible cause a fire or at
the very least, fill the room with smoke.
We do have customers that place the Mobile Unit directly on top
of their hopper and transfer/clean corn directly to their hopper
from their corn source. This works great because the Mobile Unit
does not need an airtight container. Others also hang our secondary
tank over their hopper and fill the tank up and open the gate to
allow the corn to fall directly into their hopper.
How fast does the Mobile Unit transfer corn?
All of our products will transfer corn at about the same rate.
They all work on the same principle of using a wet/dry vac to
provide power to transfer and clean corn. We have had transfer
rates as fast as 45 pounds per minute using a very short run with no
height lift. The typical setup of transferring corn 10-15 feet with
a 4-5 foot vertical rise is typically about 35 pounds per minute
(2,100 pounds or 1+ ton per hour). The more distance you are
traveling, the slower the transfer rate will be. We have tested a
run of 40 feet with a 2-3 foot lift which resulted in 30 pounds per
minute. When going longer distances, you MUST be careful in laying
out your piping system to work properly.
How fast is delivery/shipping?
Our inventory is constantly changing depending on how busy we are
and what our current stock is. We will typically always have our
products in stock, but that can change if more orders than expected
are received. If we have your product in stock and you place your
order by 6:00p.m. we will typically have it shipped the next day, or
at the latest 2 days.
All of our products are picked up and shipped using UPS.
