Stevens Farm History My father Howard was born and raised in this area.  He helped his father farm until he was called for duty in World War II.  After serving in the Navy, he returned to Washington D.C. and worked as a welder.  It was at that time Howard and Josephine were married. My mother was born and raised near Sykesville, Maryland. My parents had four children Robert, Mary, Beth, and March.  (I was named after my Grandfather March Stevens.)  Howard always loved farming.  In 1950 the two of them purchased 480 acres of land in Renville County.  They both worked very hard with the farmland in addition to milking between thirty and forty dairy cows.  My older brother married and he and his wife raised a family of four.  Robert and Howard farmed together for some time.  Currently two of their sons farm in the area.  My sister Beth lives in Minot, N.D.  Beth and her husband Keith have two sons.  She owns and operates an art supply store.

March and Marla Stevens

My wife, Marla, and I have four children Clarke, Mitchell, Tyler, and Kimberly.  Kim currently attends College.  Marla teaches English at our school.  Along with Marla's teaching duties she is a full time mother.  We have been married for 30 years. Our sons and daughter-in-law are also actively involved in the farming operation.

Our regions yearly total precipitation is only 16 inches per year. That is one of the reasons we have switched to minimum tillage and direct seeding on our farm.   Soil conservation is also a concern and basic economics has guided us in this direction.  We have have been continuous cropping for 30 years.

The Stevens Farm website (www.stevensfarm.com) was created in 1999 by March and Kimberly Stevens and presented us the opportunity to market our products direct to our valued customers.  We make every attempt to represent our products fairly and treat our patrons the way we like to be treated.  Your privacy is a very important issue to us.  We make every attempt to make your shopping experience secure and pleasant.  Thanks to all of our customers!
